The Golden Chick Story began in Central Texas in the late 1960’s when the concept was created by a former employee of a chicken franchise who believed there had to be a better way to run a franchise system. It’s been almost 50 years since the first Golden Fried Chicken opened in San Marcos, Texas. We feature the best fried chicken, our Original and Still the Best™Golden Tenders, Golden Roast, salads, and the best sides in the business. The franchisee of this location in Arlington, Pat Vaselakos, went to Texas State University in San Marcos so she has a long history with the chain.
Pat Vaselakos –Owner/Franchisee
Pat Vaselakos opened the Golden Chick in December 2001. She is the third generation of her family to be in the restaurant business and continues the tradition that dates back to Chicago from the 1930’s.
My Christmas present to myself in 2001 was a day late, December 26, the day I first put the key in the door and opened this location. My thoughts went to my Grandfather, Tom, who owned and operated the Town Candy store on Roosevelt Avenue in Chicago. He sold hand dipped chocolates and other wonderful candies. My Dad, Pete, his brother John and Uncle Bill; opened their first McDonalds in St. Joseph, Missouri in the early 60’s. It was a family affair with my brother Tom also working in the family business.
I was excited then and I still am every time I go in the door
Our philosophy is simple: have the friendliest staff, the best chicken in Arlington, and provide a clean and comfortable environment for our customers. We think we have learned a few things over three generations but encourage you to let us know what we can do better: there is always room for improvement. Golden Chick Arlington in the Community
We strive to develop and maintain a community-oriented business that produces a quality product with outstanding service. We donate our leftover chicken to The Mission Arlington (www.missionarlington.org) and to The Arlington Nigh Shelter (www.arlingtonlifeshelter.org) on a rotating basis. A modest estimate over the 12+ years we have been open would be 24,000 pounds to feed those in need. We would encourage you to check out their “Wish Lists” of critical items needed.
We thank you for your support and patronage over the years.
